Compassion
We listen first. Every girl's situation is different, and our support starts with understanding hers.
NALA Charity Initiative began in 2026 in Ongino Sub County, Kumi District, Uganda, founded by three young changemakers determined to rewrite the future of vulnerable girls.
Today, we work with families, schools and local leaders to remove the things that push girls out of education, including unpaid school fees, missing school days during menstruation, hunger, early marriage and a lack of someone to believe in them.
We focus only on girls, from Primary One to their first job. Every girl is known by name and followed up each term. We report openly on what we spend and the changes we make.
NALA provides school support, health education, mentorship and career guidance. We provide essential classroom materials such as exercise books, pens, pencils, mathematical sets and school bags. We also provide sanitary towels and education on personal hygiene and reproductive health.
Through mentorship, we create safe and supportive spaces where girls can build self-esteem, develop resilience and find positive role models. Through career guidance, we help girls discover their strengths, set future goals and identify pathways towards becoming independent leaders.
To support and empower girls through practical, emotional and educational assistance. We tackle the root causes of school dropouts and early pregnancies, especially in remote areas with limited access to education.
A world where every girl has the opportunity to live with dignity, hope and opportunity.
NALA was born from real, lived struggle.
Our founder, Joy, nearly saw her education cut short by unexpected and overwhelming life challenges. The doors of opportunity seemed to close.
A generous sponsor stepped in and funded her education. Because of that single act of kindness, Joyce didn't just finish school. She is now a practising Human Resources (HR) professional.
Having lived through the pain of almost losing her future to life's unplanned hurdles, Joy promised to give other girls that same second chance. Together with Nabukonde Esther and Pocious Gwali, she founded NALA Charity Initiative in Ongino Sub County, Kumi District.
We are starting with four programmes: school support, health education, mentorship and career guidance, delivered to girls in remote communities of Kumi District.
These are the questions we ask ourselves before every decision.
We listen first. Every girl's situation is different, and our support starts with understanding hers.
We do what we say we will do, and we tell the truth about what works and what does not.
Our goal is not dependence. We help girls build the skills and confidence to stand on their own.
Donors and families should be able to see how every contribution is used and what it achieves.
Change lasts when parents, teachers and leaders own it. We work alongside them, not around them.
We commit to girls for the long term and plan our work so it can continue and grow.
