About the project
In remote communities, a girl without an exercise book, a pen or a mathematical set struggles to keep up in class, and falling behind is often the first step towards dropping out.
Through the School Support Program, NALA Charity Initiative provides vital classroom tools to vulnerable girls in Ongino Sub County: exercise books, pens, pencils, mathematical sets and school bags. With the right materials, girls can take part fully in lessons, do their homework and actively learn.
School support goes hand in hand with our other programmes. The girls we reach also benefit from health education, mentorship and career guidance, because we want to support the whole girl, not just her school bag.
Objectives
- Make sure every girl we support has the basic materials she needs to learn in class.
- Reduce the number of girls who drop out of school because of a lack of scholastic materials.
- Reach girls in remote areas of Kumi District where access to education is limited.
- Connect supported girls to our health education, mentorship and career guidance programmes.
What each girl receives
As a new organisation, we will share updates on how many girls have been reached and what has changed at the end of each school term.
